US M1855 Cap Box

Complete, solid cap box. Has some crazing & cracking as well as outer finish flaking. Leather is soft and pliable. Both belt loops are strong and intact as is the finial flap. Missing the inner flap, which was intentionally cut out long ago.
This car box has a very crude construction, almost reminiscent of CS manufacture, but am sure it is not. Just a lower quality contract job for the war effort.
